What Does a Film Fixer Actually Do?

Think of your fixer as your own dedicated local producer. They are your boots on the ground — the person who knows the right crew, the right locations, the right suppliers and the right way to get things done in that specific territory.

A great fixer doesn't just solve the problems you can anticipate. They anticipate the ones you can't. They navigate local bureaucracy, build relationships with location owners, negotiate with suppliers, manage logistics on the day and act as a cultural bridge between your core team and the local production environment.

Stepping in at any stage of your project, our fixers keep everything moving flawlessly so your time and energy goes towards the creative, not the operational.

A True Extension of Your Team

The best fixer and line producer relationships are built on trust, communication and a shared commitment to the final product. From the first briefing call, we invest time in understanding your vision, your working style and your non-negotiables — so that when we're representing you on location, we're doing so with full confidence and alignment.

We are not a transactional service. We are a long-term production partner, and many of our clients return to us project after project because of that consistency.

Line Producing — Full Creative and Financial Oversight

Where a fixer handles the on-the-ground operational realities of a shoot, a line producer holds the wider production together — managing the budget, the schedule and the department heads that make the whole thing function.

Our line producers work closely with directors and executive producers to turn creative ambitions into a workable, fully costed production plan. They keep a constant eye on spending, flag potential overages before they become problems and find smart solutions that protect the quality of the production without blowing the budget.

Remote Production Support — Your Set, Anywhere

If your core team can't be on location, we bring the set directly to you. Using state-of-the-art live-streaming technology, we facilitate a seamless remote filming experience — giving directors, clients and creative leads total oversight and real-time control from anywhere in the world.

This approach has become an increasingly valuable tool for international brands managing productions across multiple territories simultaneously. Rather than the expense and disruption of flying an entire team to every location, our fixers provide the professional presence on the ground while your team directs remotely with complete visibility.

Who We Are

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at production@theproductionfixers.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A fixer focuses primarily on the on-the-ground operational support for a shoot — local crew, locations, logistics, permits and problem-solving in real time. A line producer takes a broader financial and organisational role, managing the overall budget, schedule and department heads throughout the full production process. In practice, the two roles often overlap, and we are experienced in providing both.

Yes. We work on productions of all lengths — from a single shoot day to a multi-week project. Whether you need a fixer for one day or a line producer for the full duration of a campaign, we are happy to discuss what level of support makes sense for your project.

Absolutely. While we are based in London, our network extends across the UK, Europe and globally. We can provide dedicated local production support in multiple territories simultaneously for international productions.

We understand that productions frequently move at speed. In many cases we can mobilise within 24 to 48 hours. Contact us as early as possible to discuss your timeline and we will do everything we can to accommodate your schedule.
